1884 Series 2017
12th April – August
The 1884 Series runs throughout the summer on Wednesday evenings from mid April to end of August. The series is split into 2 parts with awards being given to each class for each part, and for the overall winner for each class for the 1884 series.
The courses are ‘windward leeward’ and ‘round the cans’ with 2 races per evening for the IRC and J24 fleet and 1 long race for the racing cruiser fleet. All races are started from the committee boat and run generally inside the Sound with a few options that run south of the breakwater.
Racing is open to anyone with a valid handicap or measurement certificate. We actively encourage sailors to come and race in the Series and would be pleased to accommodate new one-design classes that can bring 5 boats or more to the start line.
After racing, come and enjoy the atmosphere at the Royal Western Yacht Club where the daily ‘bottle’ prizes are presented to the winners of each class. The bar and restaurant are open for a sailing supper, so bring the crew along to enjoy the atmosphere at what is the traditionally known as ‘club night’.
