Stoneways Marine VPRS No Spinnaker Championships

Incorporating the Plymouth Gin Team Challenge

*DUE TO A CLASH OF EVENTS THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 2023*

 All boats sailing off their no spinnaker TCC rating.

  • All boats to compete on an equal footing without having to be fully crewed
  • Sailing downwind spinnaker pole can be used to pole out the headsail
  • Team racing with 3 boats in each team
    • At least 1 boat rating 0.920 and above
    • At least 1 boat rating 0.919 and below.
  • Entries accepted for individual VPRS South West No Spinnaker Championships as well as the team event
  • Individual entries will be matched into teams where possible
  • A mix of Windward Leeward races and round the cans racing
  • 6 races with 1 discard – best 5 results to count
  • Committee boat start
  • Entry fee of £55 for each boat – includes an annual 2022 VPRS rating
  • £25 bar token to spend at the RWYC on food and drinks for boats already rated under VPRS
  • Racing will be run by Regional Race Officer, Jerry Lock from the RWYC
  • Event/race briefing 6pm at RWYC on Friday 5th August (also available by social media for those unable to attend)
  • Saturday 6th August after racing
    • RWYC a barbeque and outside bar
    • Numerous Plymouth Gin “boat names out of a hat draw” bottle prizes for all competing boats (got to be there to win it)
  • Sunday 7th August after racing
    • prize giving at RWYC
    • numerous Plymouth Gin “boat names out of a hat draw” bottle prizes for all competing boats (got to be there to win it)
  • Plymouth Gin prizes for best teams overall 1st to 6th place (prizes for each boat in team)
  • Plymouth Gin prize for best Yacht Club team (prizes for each boat in team)
  • Plymouth Gin prizes for individual overall VPRS SW Championships 1st to 3rd place
  • Plymouth Gin prizes for individual VPRS SW Championships (Division A rating 0.920 and above) 1st to 3rd place
  • Plymouth Gin prizes for individual VPRS SW Championships (Division B rating 0.919 and below) 1st to 3rd place
  • Class prizes (5 minimum to form a class) J24, Impala, RC1000 etc.
  • Plymouth Gin prizes for best performing family team and best performing all-female team

The event format is aimed at competitive yacht racing appealing to all types and sizes of boats to race together yet being a hugely fun event open to all yacht racers both experienced and new to racing
