WorldSTAR2026-Notice Of Event

V2 Notice of Event containing Appendix 3

Entry Form

Please note, we are taking ‘expressions of interest’ as described in 7.1 of the NoE. We are limited to 40 entrants, so to be sure of your inclusion in the 2026 edition please reserve your please on the start line and complete the Entry Form as best as you can with personal information sa we can position you on the Entry List which will go live next week.

here are some FAQ’s for you:
Q – will you be using IMOCA for open 60’s?
A – no, this will be revised on the Notice of Event within the next update. We will not be insisting on huge expense to rate for a class. So, Open60 will have their own class and will count for Line Honours
Q – Can I pay my entry fee deposit before I have a boat or decided on the boat I will enter in?
A – Yes of course! Your £1000 fee buys an entry slot, after which it remains a case of qualification
Q – Can I change my mind from Solo to Double handed or from Double Handed to Solo after I have booked my slot?
A – Yes, provided the qualification miles are done in your final race mode and on the final race boat.
Q – Where can I see the list of applications?
A – The first list will go up in the next 2 weeks
Q – Is there a maximum entry number?
A – Yes, this is currently set at 40
Q – Will there be an IMOCA class?
A – Yes, in fact there will be a number of classes based on the number of entries. We have already had several OPEN60 sailors in touch and we are confident that we will be able to offer a class for the OPEN60 as well as the OPEN40’s.
Q – What happens if I have to stop on the way due to gear failure, am I out of the race?
A – NO!!! This is about getting to the finish. More information will be in the Sailing Instructions, but if a stop is necessary due to gear failure, health, safety, etc, then we will always take this into account.
Q – The Finish time is 6 months, is this set in stone?
A – Currently there is a guide line of 6 months as a cut off, which is based on getting the fleet in and out of the southern ocean in a decent time. We will review this within the early stages of the entry process and well before we sell out to ensure that we are giving the right amount of time for those who have committed.

WorldStar Yacht Race

“Project WORLDSTAR”

The Royal Western Yacht Club was the very first club to introduce short handed and fully crewed offshore and oceanic racing. The corinthian approach to revive the Whitbread Round the World Race several years ago has since been a successful event as with the first solo Golden Globe Race (GGR) being such a well represented format at the corinthian level.

We see an opening.

The RWYC have developed the WorldSTAR to appeal to the adventurer who wishes to complete a circumnavigation in their own boat, rating on IRC or non-rated, with the only main restriction being the boat must be between 35-60ft. The entry can be solo or double handed, and will align with the OSR Cat 0 regulations.

It is our intention to help as many sailors with the required experience to achieve their dream at a reasonable level of investment with the confidence of knowing that one of the worlds most experienced oceanic yacht clubs is with them in their quest to concor their ‘Everest’.
